11 Characters Wed Love to See in Monster Hunter World

first_imgLet us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey. Stay on target In case you didn’t know, Monster Hunter: World is huge. As in, Capcom’s best-selling game ever huge. There are many reasons to love MHW, but one of our favorite things is the cameos! We’ve already seen Street Fighter’s Ryu and Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy appear in the game. Even Devil May Cry’s Dante will soon join the monster-slaying party. Capcom seems to want as many cameo characters as possible and we’re okay with that.Since we’re likely to have more characters cross over to Monster Hunter: World, we thought it’d be fun to create a wish-list of who we’d like to see. Aside from choosing characters who use weapons and slay monsters in their own games, we pretty much let our imaginations go wild with this one. Check out our picks, and please feel free to leave us your suggestions in the comments. Anyway, let’s get started!Strider HiryuAdChoices广告Strider already appeared in Monster Hunter: Generations so having him in Monster Hunter: World makes total sense. Strider’s fighting style was a variant on Dual Blades in Generations and it’s a smart move to retain that in MHW. Strider is a close-range fighter, after all. Given his speed, Strider can overwhelm monsters with a flurry of quick attacks. The fact he can jump off walls (in this case, trees and other environmental objects) will make him even more fun to play as.Ryu HayabusaWe haven’t seen a new Ninja Gaiden game in forever so it’d be great to have Ryu Hayabusa make his current-gen debut in Monster Hunter: World. Hayabusa is a weapons master which means he doesn’t have to be confined to being a sword user. Like Strider, Hayabusa can also use the environment to help him kill monsters. Toss in Hayabusa’s super moves, and he’d be a force to be reckoned with.KratosSince Monster Hunter: World already has Aloy, why not introduce another PlayStation character? In this case, the one and only Kratos. The former god of war is in the business of taking down giant beasts so he’s a natural for MHW. There are no weapons like Kratos’ Blades of Chaos in Monster Hunter: World. Thankfully, Kratos from the upcoming God of War uses an axe; which is a perfect weapon for MHW. A Switch Axe or Charge Blade should suit Kratos.BayonettaIf you’re going to have Dante in the game, you need to have Bayonetta. Bayonetta is all about style and grace. With that being the case, the Longsword is for her. It would be awesome if players could use her demon abilities against monsters. Imagine using her demon hair attack against some of the creatures! This could make her somewhat overpowered, but that’s something for the developers to worry about. We just want Bayonetta in the game!Lara CroftLara Croft is hot stuff now thanks to a movie and the announcement of a new Tomb Raider game. This makes it an ideal time to have her appear in Monster Hunter: World. Lara isn’t much of a melee fighter, but she’d kick serious ass with any of the game’s ranged weapons. Having Lara take out an Anjanath with the Light Bowgun would certainly bring back memories of the first Tomb Raider where she faced off against an angry T-Rex.KilikTo be honest, most characters in the Soul Calibur franchise would fit nicely in Monster Hunter: World. However, we’re going to go with Kilik on this one since he is a staff user. This makes him a perfect for the Insect Glaive. Beating monsters in the face with the glaive would be a blast, as would leaping above them to deal additional damage. Kilik also kind of looks like a Monster Hunter character so he definitely wouldn’t be out of place while hanging out in Astera.Geralt of RiviaThis selection is easy considering how Geralt is a literal monster hunter. Sword and Shield, Longsword, Bow and Arrow, Geralt will bring the pain no matter what weapon he uses. Like Bayonetta, Geralt’s magic-based attacks might overwhelm most monsters. But I suppose that’s the whole point of even having him in the game. This cameo is practically screaming to happen.Bayek of SiwaBayek from Assassin’s Creed: Origins is a complete badass and he needs to be in more games. Like many characters on this list, Bayek is proficient with a large number of weapons. Seeing him with an Insect Glaive, a Switch Axe, or Longsword wouldn’t be out of character. With that said, I can see him maining a Sword and Shield since those are his primary weapons in Origins. Also, Bayek does fight against giant gods in his game’s DLC, so he should be fine going up against any massive monster.Hunter (Bloodborne)Bloodborne has gotten a new lease on life thanks to being a free PlayStation Plus game this month. Since that’s the case, why not toss in that game’s Hunter? The Hunter specializes in fighting all manner of giant monsters. On top of that, most of the weapons he uses have different forms. This makes the Charge Blade or Switch Axe ideal weapons. Monster Hunter: World even has an outfit that looks almost identical to the Hunter (the Giros armor). I suppose you can just wear that armor set and use a Charge Blade, but why pretend when this could be official?Cloud StrifeI can’t be the only person who thought of Cloud Strife when they saw the Buster Sword in Monster Hunter: World. He is, after all, the most famous Buster Sword user in video games. As funny as it would be to have the polygonal Cloud from the original Final Fantasy VII, it’d be better to get the cool looking Cloud from the Dissidia games. Now that I think about it, you could have other Final Fantasy characters like Squall as a Gunlance user too. But Squall is annoying, so we’ll stick with Cloud. Everyone likes him.LinkYou didn’t think we’d forget about our boy Link, did you? Back before Monster Hunter even existed, Link was out there slaying the biggest, baddest monsters around. Link can slay creatures like Rathalos, Diablos, and Nergigante without breaking a sweat. As for what weapon Link would main, it would definitely be the Sword and Shield. Seeing the Master Sword and Hylian Shield in Monster Hunter would be a sight to behold. However, Link can whip butt with any weapon you give him. If Monster Hunter: World ever comes to Switch, this is a cameo that needs to happen.center_img ‘God Eater 3’ on Switch Brings Franchise Back to Its RootsHands-On: ‘Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’ Beta Left Us Hung… last_img
