BC Hydro, Dene Tha’ First Nation come to agreement on Site C

JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro announced today that they have come to an agreement with Dene Tha’ First Nation for construction and operations of the Site C energy project.The agreement says it includes a one-time payment and also commits BC Hydro to provide information on employment as well as training opportunities during the construction.The Dene Tha’ have a population roughy around 2,400 members. Aroun 1,800 live on the reserve and 600 more live off of it.- Advertisement -BC Hydro says the agreement “signifies a commitment to work together on the Site C project going forward.”Chief Joe Pastion says this agreement is a major milestone.“The agreement is a milestone in the relationship between BC Hydro and Dene Tha’. We are striving to strengthen our relations with industry and First Nations in our Traditional Territory.
